For Host Families
How wonderful that you are interested in welcoming one of our international students into your home! By making this decision, you will not only become a second family for international students but also immerse yourselves in new cultures and languages, learn new traditions, and form lifelong connections.
To ensure a successful match, it is important to fill out the registration form truthfully and clearly communicate your wishes, needs, and expectations from the beginning. Your openness and hospitality make it possible for students from around the world to feel welcome and at home here.

Here's how it works:
- Fill out the registration form: Complete the registration form and send it to us via email. You can find the form on the right side of the website.
- Attach photos: Include a family photo and pictures of the room for the guest student.
- Introduction text: A few lines about yourselves, your interests, and your motivation for hosting an international student are welcome.
After reviewing the applications, we will contact you and connect you with potential guest students. You can get to know each other online and discuss organizational details.
Preparation and Support:
- Intercultural workshop: Participate in a free intercultural workshop to prepare for living with international students. Further information is available upon request or on our website
- Joint events: Participate in our regular events, such as the Café Multicultural, to explore other cultures and engage in open exchange with the students.
- Contact person: Throughout the entire process, a contact person will be available to assist you with any concerns, problems, or questions.

Host families are a wonderful way to experience a new culture intensively and actively participate in it. With the support of a host family, exploring Koblenz and its surroundings becomes a breeze, and making new friends and acquaintances will be easier than ever. Of course, you are also warmly invited to share your culture with your host family. This cultural exchange often leads to lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences.

Here's how it works:

- Introduction letter: Write a brief letter to the host family introducing yourself and your interests. Explain why you would like to stay with a host family.
After reviewing your documents, we will contact you and connect you with potential host families. You can get to know each other online and discuss organizational details.

Q&A
The International Office at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences accepts applications, screens them and connects international students with suitable host families. We make sure that the basic ideas of the parties match. Accordingly, the main task of the host families and students is to check whether the interpersonal aspects are also compatible. The contract and potential further agreements are concluded independently by the families with the students. We are on hand throughout the entire process and during the exchange period to answer any questions and to mediate in the event of problems or difficulties.
All international students at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, as well as families and shared flats who would like to host international students.
Fill out the application form on our homepage and send it to us by email. After we have reviewed the documents and clarified any questions that have arisen, we will get back to you with information on how to proceed.
A conventional rental agreement is concluded between the parties. It is up to the parties involved to agree on the content.
As in a normal tenancy, the rental costs are borne by the guest students. It is up to the host families to determine the amount of the rent. The additional costs can also be decided individually.
You will be asked for your email address and telephone number when you register. As soon as we have connected you with an international student, you can decide individually how to make contact.
This varies from host family to host family and is also very individual on the part of the students. In the application form, we ask you to make your own ideas on this aspect clear so that we can take them into account during the pre-selection process. In this way, we can ensure that we bring host families and students with similar expectations into contact.
