Program Structure 2010
International Summer School Program 2010
Myrtle Beach meets Remagen
Ten students of Coastal Carolina University accompanied by Prof. Dr. Jay Teets and Prof. Dr. Darla Domke-Damonte visited the Rhineland in May. During their stay in Germany, they interacted with the Summer School participants as well as with other students taking the Elective they got involved in. The preparatory phase included digital project work in mixed teams and email exchange.
The topic of this year's teaching modules , "Comparative Studies of the Economics of the North American and European Sports Systems", were explored and extended by means of various seminar sessions, talks and excursions.
In addition to academic coursework, social activities such as sports events, an interactive rally of Bonn, the former capital of Germany, and a barbecue on the banks of the river Rhine, helped to foster strong relationships.
Remagen meets Myrtle Beach
The participants chosen for participation in the International Summer School at CCU in Fall 2010 took an active part in preparing many of the activities offered during the first part of the summer school program. After the initial pre-departure meetings, contacts with CCU students were arranged. Email communication and chat sessions were used for advance communications with students at CCU. Through their contributions to the first part of the Summer School Program, students had an excellent opportunity to prepare for their own stay at Coastal Carolina Univerity in August/September.
