Achieved My Goals!
Emilia from Finland, Summer Semester 2016
My name is Emilia Hyvönen and I am an Erasmus exchange student from Lahti, Finland.
I had three goals for my exchange semester: to better my English and German language skills and to get new friends. I can now at the end of my exchange say that I have achieved all these goals and I have to say that I am really happy about this.
When I first arrived to Remagen, I thought it was beautiful. I really like smaller towns, so this felt perfect to me. I really liked the atmosphere of this little town, and I still like it. I also really liked that the town is so close to bigger cities like Bonn, Cologne, and Koblenz, and the fact that I can travel to all those cities free.
I lived near the city center with one roommate, and I got the place by school here, I did not have to look for it myself. I really feel lucky, because some of my friends had to search a place on their own. The place was nice and roomy, and enough for me for this one semester.
The courses that I took here were challenging but fun. I had three masters courses in here, which scared me at first, but they were really nice as well. I also really liked that we had a German course available where we could learn some German more.
I think the best thing I got out of my exchange is the people. I now have many friends from different countries that I really want to visit in the future. Also I learned so much from all these lovely people here, that I did not know before and for that I am so grateful. I really want to say thank you to all the people I know in Remagen and to everyone who made this exchange possible.
