Beautiful and beneficial Experience in Remagen!
Giorgi from Georgia, Summer Semester 2019
Hello. My name is Giorgi and I am from Tbilisi, Georgia. I think it was a really good decision when I chose RheinAhrCampus for my semester abroad. My semester in Remagen was busy, interesting and very beneficial. I gained knowledge and experience which I think will play a great role in my professional and personal development. The thing that I liked most during my exchange semester is the academic system at university. It is completely different from my home university. I experienced new teaching and studying methods that I liked very much, also I had the opportunity to study very interesting and useful subjects that were unique for me because we do not have similar courses at TSU. For example, one course which I think was the most challenging and useful is International Business Simulations. It’s a project where we created a real consulting company and worked on a real product together with our partner University in Australia. I was working as an assistant of the head of the marketing department and I gained experience in working with intercultural teams, working under pressure and generally I learned how to work professionally. During the course, I had the chance to work on my soft skills that are crucial for my future career. I worked on my presentation skills and speaking or giving a presentation in front of people is not a problem for me anymore. Also, I gained skills like flexibility, working in a team, empathy and hard work. In addition to academic advantages, my semester in RheinAhrCampus played a big role in my personal development. Everything was new to me in Germany. People’s lifestyle, attitudes, working, and social environment, culture, language, etc. were totally new and challenging at the beginning but now I think that it had a good hand in my personal development. I became more independent, gained intercultural communication skills, experienced new cultures, and started studying a second foreign language (German) and I am going to continue studying it in my home country as well. I met so many new people from all over the world and made friends. During the holidays I was traveling in Europe and on weekends me and other students were going to pubs, bars, excursions and other social events around Remagen. To sum up, before I came to Germany I could not imagine how many things I could do, learn and experience in five months. And when I compare myself after and before this exchange semester I see huge difference and I am grateful that I had opportunity to spend five months in RheinAhrCampus where I was able to have fun, to travel, to meet new people, experience new cultures and broaden my horizon while studying very interesting subjects and I was involved in various projects. So, I think studying one semester in RheinAhrCampus is beneficial and entertaining.
