A Transformative Semester at RheinAhrCampus: My Journey and Reflections

Sofiia from Ukraine, Summer Semester 2024

My name is Sofia Vasyliv, and I come from Ukraine. Reflecting on this semester at RheinAhrCampus in Germany, I realize it has been a time of incredible growth, learning, and new experiences.

When I first arrived in Remagen, I felt both excited and a bit nervous about the unknown journey ahead. However, as the semester went on, it turned into one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I had the chance to immerse myself in a new culture, make friends from different backgrounds, and push myself both academically and personally.

The friendships I have made here are a major highlight. Talking with peers from different countries and learning about their cultures has broadened my horizons. We spent countless hours exchanging ideas about our educational systems, traditions and hopes for the future, which not only enlightened me but also helped me form deep connections.

Traveling with my new friends was another important part of this semester. We visited lively cities like Florence in Italy, historical landmarks in Berlin, and the beautiful landscapes of Switzerland. Each trip was a unique adventure filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Academically, this experience was both challenging and rewarding. The courses required critical and creative thinking, pushing me to do my best. Participating in various projects and group activities helped me improve my teamwork and leadership skills.

My internship at the University's Languages/International Relations Department gave me valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how international academic programs work. This further strengthened my ability to work in a multicultural environment and improved my professional skills.

My semester at RheinAhrCampus has been a transformative journey. I grew academically, developed new skills, and made lasting friendships. This experience showed me the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges. I am deeply grateful to RheinAhrCampus for this unforgettable time.
