A Transformative Semester at RheinAhrCampus: My Journey and Reflections

Sofiia from Ukraine, Summer Semester 2024

My name is Sofiia Vasyliv, and I'm from Ukraine. This semester at RheinAhrCampus in Germany has been an incredible journey of growth, learning, and new experiences.

When I first arrived in Remagen, I was both excited and a little nervous about what lay ahead. Now, looking back, I can confidently say that this semester has been one of the most enriching periods of my life. I’ve had the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, make friends from around the globe, and challenge myself academically and personally.

One of the most memorable aspects of my time here has been the friendships I’ve formed. Meeting people from different countries and learning about their cultures has broadened my perspective in ways I never imagined. We spent countless hours discussing everything from our educational systems and traditions to our hopes for the future. These conversations were not just enlightening but also deeply bonding.

Traveling with my new friends has been a highlight of this semester. We visited several cities, including the bustling streets of Florence Italy, the historic sites of Berlin, and the scenic beauty of Switzerland. Each trip was a unique adventure filled with learning, laughter, and unforgettable experiences.

Academically, this semester has been both challenging and rewarding. The courses I took were demanding and pushed me to think critically and creatively. Additionally, I had the opportunity to participate in various projects and group activities, which made my teamwork and leadership skills better.

A particularly impactful experience was my involvement in the International Week. This event allowed me to collaborate with a diverse group of people, manage tasks efficiently, and develop my organizational skills. Seeing the event come to life and receiving positive feedback was incredibly gratifying. Furthermore, my internship in the University’s Languages / International Affairs department provided me with practical experience and deeper insights into the workings of international academic programs. This role further enhanced my ability to work in a multicultural environment and strengthened my professional skills.

In conclusion, my semester at RheinAhrCampus has been a transformative experience. I’ve grown academically, developed new skills, and formed lasting friendships. This journey has taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges. Thank you, RheinAhrCampus, for an unforgettable semester. This is not a farewell but a promise to return.
