Numbers Speak Louder than Words
Lubica on Her Semester at RheinAhrCampus
Hi, I’m Lubica Kuboveova from the University of Worcester (UK) and I spent the winter semester 2008/2009 at RheinAhrCampus of the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences. I would like to share my experiences with you because I think RheinAhrCampus offers a number of opportunities to exchange students that other universities may not have (e.g. as a student from a partner university I was immediately offered a paid internship in the department of Languages and International Affairs).
In the sense of the saying that "numbers speak louder than words", I would like to express my experience at RheinAhrCampus in numbers. So here is my ranking:
Academic competency | 10/10 | Good choice of modules, stimulating studying atmosphere |
Accessibility | 10/10 | Excellent train connections |
Canteen | 8/10 | Reasonable meals at a great price |
Cultural opportunities | 8/10 | Many culture opportunities but most of them out of Remagen |
Equipment of the university | 10/10 | Modern, well equipped lecture rooms |
Halls of Residence | 10/10 | New building, spacious single rooms with own bathroom and kitchenette |
Hospitality of home students | 10/10 | Very helpful & easy to get in touch with |
International office | 10/10 | Extremely well organised and helpful in every sense |
Library | 10/10 | New books, many copies & great choice |
Location | 7/10 | Remagen is a rather quiet and small place |
Quality of lecturers | 10/10 | Very professional and very knowledgeable |
Socialising, parties | 9/10 | Three big cities to choose from; the only negative thing is having to catch the train back |
Sports opportunities | (in winter) 7/10 | Many sports opportunities but not all of them available all year around |
Total | 119/130 |
To sum up, all I can say is that one semester is too short to make the most of all that RheinAhrCampus and the region offer, so if you have the chance, you should plan for a whole academic year!
